Talgarth Market

Talgarth Livestock Market officially opened in 1922 as an open air market, however since that time the majority of the premises has been covered and literally millions of livestock have passed through under the guide of the auctioneers hammer. Sunderlands has operated from the centre for over 70 years. It is situated at the heart of the market town of Talgarth, just seven miles west of the Welsh and English border and draws livestock from up to a 200 mile radius! Talgarth Market is well known nationally as a centre for sourcing excellent quality livestock including fat lambs and breeding stock which is a credit to all the surrounding producers that support the market.

Sunderlands currently hold weekly sales of fat lambs and cull ewes and can easily accommodate 2000 lambs and 1000 cull ewes. There are also seasonal breeding sales throughout the year. Such is the quality of stock at Talgarth, it encourages buyers from all corners of the UK.

The auctioneers are always pleased to see new and regular customers so please feel free to call in and see us.

Builth Market Auctioneers Limited

The Sunderlands membership were delighted to take over the lease at Builth Wells Livestock Market on the 6th July 2020, as part of their full acquisition of the shares of Hereford Market Auctioneers Limited. A new company was set up as Builth Market Auctioneers Limited and the first sale under the new management was held on the 10th July 2020 conducted under the direction of auctioneer Greg Christopher.

Since that time significant investment has been made to upgrade the office and sheep penning facilities so that 2500 sheep can be penned undercover. A rolling programme of investment is continuing year-on-year in order to replace and renew the external penning facilities so that the market can readily accommodate over 5000 sheep on a weekly basis.

Builth Market Auctioneers hold weekly sales of Prime of Fat Lambs and Cull Ewes every Friday, gates open for weighing from 7.30am and the sale starts at 12.15pm. There are also seasonal breeding sales and society sales throughout the year to include the successful sales of good underneath ewes.

Builth Market Auctioneers are one of the Official Auctioneers for The Welsh Mule Society and conduct these two sales at our state of the art premises in Hereford. The company also conducts official breeding sales of:

• Blue faced Leicester Rams

• Beulah Rams
